Deal three cards face down to each player. These are the “Pocket cards”, they remain face down (players can inspect their own cards), these cards are not consider to be the “tableu”.

Two players then take turns being the “Divider”.

The Divider draws four cards and then splits these into two groups. These two groups are then placed between the two players face up, and the other player may choose on of the groups.

If the Divider made two even groups of two cards:

Then the other player places one of those cards face up in front of themselves creating a tableu (a row of cards). If they placed a Black card, then the remaining card in the group is placed to the Right of that card face down. If they placed a Red card, then the remaining card is placed face up to the Left.

On subsequent turns, the first card that is placed Face Up into the tableu, must be placed onto a Face Down card in the tableu. And then the remaining card is placed to the Left or Right of that (depending on the colour).

Note: A player is also allowed to first swap the face down card for a card in their chosen group before continuing play. ie you choose a group, put the face down card into the group, and then put a different card from the group Face Down in the same location. Then place a card from the group face up, and then the next card beside that.

The Divider then takes their action with the remaining group of two of cards.

If the Divider split the cards so that their was a single card in one group and three in the other group:

Then whoever ends up with the single card must flip their current Face Down card in the tableu Face Up, and then place the new card Face Down to the left or right of any card in their tableu. Whoever ends up with the group of 3 cards, will play as they normally would with two cards, but places the extra card face down onto the other face down card before continuing play.

Players then swap who is the role of Divider.

When any player has 5 face up cards in their tableu at the end of any turn, the game ends. Both players flip over two of their Pocket Cards. The winner is whoever has the highest poker hand from their own tableu and two revealed pocket cards.

(Players may only look at their own Face Down cards)
